LAST season's Lancashire captain Mark Chilton will be feeling a whole lot better with a first century of the season under his belt.
I'm really pleased for Mark, who's been skippering the second XI for most of this season with the occasional first-team appearance in between.
He managed his first 50 for the seconds only about a fortnight ago and fully grasped a further senior opportunity in our defeat by Kent at Canterbury with 102 in the second innings.
Mark's had a tough year and plans to go to Australia this winter to look at his game and start all over again. I'm not sure what his contract situation is but I'm pretty sure he'll still be at Old Trafford next season.
At Canterbury he batted a long time and hours at the crease are invaluable for those of us looking to rediscover our form.
His knock was as was good as I've seen him play for quite a while. He's worked at his game, now he's found a rhythm and can kick on from here.
Mark was our one success story at Canterbury and he was an example of how cricket can change very quickly for the individual.
