New MP steps down from charity role

Mr Webb, who has been involved with the charity since 2018, said the pressures of being MP for Blackpool South combined with family commitments had led him to make the 'difficult decision'.

He said: "It has been an absolute privilege to be part of this incredible organisation and witness the positive impact we have made in the lives of individuals in need with a brilliant community hub in South Shore on Waterloo Road and our brand-new children's centre in Bispham.

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to our remarkable founder and CEO, Stuart Hutton-Brown. Stuart, your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to ensuring mental health counselling is accessible to all is truly inspiring. It has been an honour to work alongside you and witness the transformative effects of your passion and dedication."

He pledged to continue to support the charity, its staff and volunteers in their vital work which he said would ensure it "will continue to thrive and positively impact the lives of many in Blackpool and beyond".

During Mr Webb's time as chair and trustee at Counselling in the Community, the charity has grown with its most recent addition being the £50,000 hub on Guildford Avenue, Bispham. It opened earlier this year to provide a haven of support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions for young people in the town.
